Bios 44, The Future, detail

The sculpture title refers to my intuitive vision of our life (bios) in 2044, in response to our global challenges.
Bios 44 presents 3 units, referencing 3 time periods:
The Past is preserved in the Library, where all history of the universe, our planet and its people are kept. Human knowledge, visions and dreams reside here.
The books are dictionaries in different languages. The vertical birch bark simulates ancient scriptures.
The figures are isolated in carrels, but can see each other.
The Present shows our globe, threatened by ominous black lightning. It contains a selection of what we need to survive on our destroyed planet or in space, as we flee to another planet.
The figures are each holding a seed, and the glass containers are filled with seed.
In the center is a basin which could hold water, but is now dry, containing dry moss and a coral egg.
The bundle of sticks may sprout.
The Future is life in a Space Capsule where a central computer, hanging from the top, governs all life, as we hurtle towards another planet.
The clouds are reflected from the outside world by the mirror base. The three elements in the center present gold, silver, iron, reminders of planet earth. The people are compartmentalized but can see each other.
The figures are hand-carved, wearing a Covid-type mask or a VR Headset.
Bios 44 is inspired by the novel Cloud Cuckoo Land by Anthony Doerr.
